dark hope

When it's so dark outside that you can't see a thing. When you realize what you thought you could count on is not going to come through. When you have tried everything you thought would work. When you let go of what's been...only then do your eyes adjust, you turn toward new, you open yourself to what you can't yet see. That's dark hope.

 

Dark hope feels like relief. Dark hope feels like possibility. Dark hope does not ignore the darkness - it's because of the darkness.

 

Dark hope is what keeps me going. It will also be what builds the next chapter of American excellence.
